Debate to Innovate: Empowering Future Leaders at Al-Bayaan Institute

On September 26th, 2024, Al-Bayaan Institute proudly hosted the Debate to Innovate event at the PECHS Girls Campus. It was an exciting and inspiring afternoon where students showcased their debate skills, with the event drawing inspiration from the Model United Nations (MUN) framework. Our esteemed Chief Guest, Dr. Nousheen Zakaria, a tech-winning entrepreneur and the principal of Sidr Club, graced the ceremony, and shared her valuable insights with the participants.

The Event Highlights

The event kicked off at 1:15 PM with a beautiful recitation of the Quran, followed by a heartfelt welcome note. In attendance were the proud mothers of the participants, eagerly supporting their children as they took the stage.

In preparation for the event, students were divided into three groups, each assigned a topic to debate. Over three weeks, under the guidance of their teachers, they engaged in rigorous daily discussions. This not only boosted their knowledge but also strengthened their confidence, teamwork, and public speaking skills, the key goals of the event.

The Main Event

As the debates unfolded, the students demonstrated excellent preparation and confidence, impressing both the audience and the judges. Their ability to articulate arguments and answer questions showcased how far they had come in just a few weeks. The judges carefully evaluated each performance based on the strength of arguments, teamwork, and presentation.

While the results were being compiled, Dr. Zakaria took the opportunity to share her thoughts on the importance of such platforms for young learners. She encouraged the students to continue developing their communication skills and to view this experience as a stepping stone towards future success.

Recognition and Awards

Every participant received a certificate of participation, acknowledging their hard work and dedication. Three outstanding students—one from each group—were awarded Best Speaker shields for their exceptional performances. Finally, the group with the highest overall score was recognized as the Best Group, further celebrating the spirit of teamwork and healthy competition.
